In front of an Augustana-dominated crowd, the USD women's volleyball team shocked the No. 10 Vikings 3-1 (30-26, 27-30, 30-28, 30-23) Friday night inside a raucous DakotaDome.

The victory pushed the Coyotes to 17-3 on the season, including a 2-2 mark in North Central Conference action.

"This was definitely one of our top wins over the past few years," USD coach Brian Lamppa said. "A lot of our girls hadn't ever beaten Augie. Knocking off a team like that was huge for our confidence."

Thanks to a players-only meeting last Sunday, the Coyotes came out with a newfound sense of confidence and cruised to the first set victory.

After dropping the second set, USD took the next two for the win.

USD junior Kathleen Hruska said the meeting was focused on confidence and ways the team can be more positive and hold each other accountability.

"We all said that we can't get down on ourselves," Hruska said. "It wasn't like teams were dominating us; we were beating ourselves. We wanted to come out, stay positive and get revenge on Augie."

The Coyotes will face No. 3 Minnesota-Duluth Saturday at 4 p.m. inside the DakotaDome.
