NEWS RELEASE

CANADIAN DRUGS A PRESCRIPTION FOR THE UNINSURED

By Ashley Mitchell

CANADA - As a response to the high cost of prescription drugs that continue to plague uninsured Americans, not to mention those seniors on retirement budgets, Americare Pharmacy Inc. has launched a Canadian online pharmacy. The new mail order pharmacy www.canadianmedsonline.com operating out of the province of Saskatchewan, officially commenced business February 1 ,2003.

While Americare's decision to enter the market is driven primarily by the high cost of prescription drugs in the US, it's not the entire reason for Americare's decision to enter into the online prescription drug market. The inability of many Canadian online pharmacies to handle the overwhelming volume of prescriptions is another factor. "In many instances, American patients are either being turned away, or facing significant delays in the delivery of their medications, as demand continues to escalate from states such as South Dakota, where it's estimated that approximately 10% of the population is without health insurance coverage.

It became apparent to Americare that the online pharmacy business in Canada was under tremendous pressure to keep up with the steady influx of new patients, said, Dave Wasylyshyn Americare's Managing Pharmacist. "Additionally, the favorable currency exchange that American's experience, coupled with federally regulated drug prices in Canada, results in significantly lower prescription drug costs. "However, patients should use care when shopping mail order and online outlets to help ensure that they get the specific, high quality medications they require," said Wasylyshyn. If they choose a licensed mail order pharmacy and shop smart, they will get the same drugs as they'd buy locally, but at tremendous savings." An example of the savings, popular arthritis medication Celebrex (90 capsules / 200mg ) sells for $104 at www.canadianmedsonline.com vs. a U.S. mail order pharmacy http://www.drugstore.com/ that it sells for $211.77

Reputable and licensed mail order and online outlets in Canada will not ship narcotics, or controlled substances, and all patient files must be kept strictly confidential. Patients should check, but most online outlets allow patients to register free of charge. Registration may be completed online, via fax, or by mail. It is also worth checking to make sure that the pharmacies online registrations are transmitted via a secure site. All licensed pharmacy outlets in Canada will require an original prescription. The prescription may be faxed or mailed by either the patient or the patient's physician.

CanadianMedsOnline pharmacists contact and provide free telephone counseling for each patient prior to the shipment of medication. Canadian pharmacies generally ship medications via Xpress Post directly to the patient's residence and charge a shipping fee of approximately $16.00 dollars.
