Juniors Tim Carr and Laura Hofer have been elected as the Student Government Association President and Vice President.
By a 741-354 vote margin over their opponents juniors Matt Tysdal and Patrick Morrison, Carr and Hofer will take office after Spring Break.
Carr said current SGA Vice President Anne Grady called him this morning with the election results.
“We are looking forward to the opportunity,” Carr said. “We are appreciative of all the students who came out and voted whether for us or not.”
Tysdal said Carr and Hofer will do well as the newly-elected executive members.
“I congratulate Tim on a well run campaign and have confidence they will do a great job,” Tysdal said.
Junior Travis Hahler voted for Carr and Hofer and said they had great ideas and a strong campaign. In the end, Hahler’s vote came down to the experience.
“They definitely had the most experience, so I felt safer going with them,” Hahler said. “The other two would have been great candidates another term but the experience and knowing how SGA operates really helped.”
Freshman Gary Marrowbone agreed with Hahler and said he felt more comfortable voting for Carr and Hofer.
“I felt their focuses were achievable than the other group,” Marrowbone said.
As for now, Carr said they are going to hit the ground running. He said current SGA President and Vice-President Blake Alberts and Anne Grady have said they will help make the transition into office.
Alberts said Carr will do a great job in office.
“He has been around SGA for three years,” Alberts said. “It’s nice to see someone making their way up through the organization.”
SGA Senators were notified of their election results through e-mail early this morning.
Newly elected senators include: Laura Kuschel, Jordan Feist, Isaiah Howard, Erin Rasmussen, Cassandra Heuer, Matt Blake, Daniel Price, Megan Maassen, Aaron Oestmann, Collin Michels, Garrett Devries, Marc Bury, Corey Backer, Samantha Rogers, Stanford Swanson and Anna Knotek.
