Coyotes take crown

Both the men’s and women’s teams claim Great West title

For the second year in a row, the DakotaDome proved the critical edge for the men’s and women’s track and field teams at USD, as they not only hosted the Great West Indoor Track and Field championships, they ruled them. The Coyote women (230.5 points) matched high expectations when they came out over Utah Valley, which notched 195 points. The men also won on their side of the event, beating the favored Utah Valley team 187-168. Full story

Coyote women end short winning streak

Losses on the road to New Jersey and Chicago State, return home this weekend

The USD women’s basketball team was looking to continue their winning ways with their weekend trip to Great West Conference rivals New Jersey Institute of Technology and Chicago State. The women’s team lost to New Jersey Tech 55-53, and to Chicago State 72-61. The Coyotes (12-14) had won their previous two games in their home stand against Great West Competition Utah Valley University and Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. Full story

Q&A: Swimming is always a joy ride

Sinjin Wilkerson is a freshman on the men’s swimming and diving team. He swims sprints and the backstroke and is from Hastings, Minn. He is majoring in languages at USD. Wilkensen holds a personal record of 54.39 in the 100 meter fly, and also 54.10 in the 100-yard backstroke. Full story

Women’s tennis drops three closely contested duals

Despite hopes for a good couple of days in Iowa, the USD women’s tennis team was unable to get the victories they were searching for. The team traveled to Iowa this past weekend, competing in two pairs of dual matches in Cedar Falls and Sioux City. At Cedar Falls Saturday, they dropped a pair of duals, losing to Northern Illinois, 7-0 and Northern Iowa, 7-0.
