Cain Earns Great West Player of the Week

Vermillion, S.D. – USD senior forward Tyler Cain has been selected the Great West Conference Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday. This is the first weekly honor this season for Cain, who was named the league’s preseason player of the year.

A native of Rochester, Minn., Cain posted two double-doubles in back-to-back games for the Coyotes last week. He notched 17 points and pulled down 15 rebounds in a two-point loss to 2009 NCAA tournament qualifier Morehead State (Ky.) and followed with 18 points and 10 boards in a 91-69 loss at No. 12 Kansas State on Sunday. In total, Cain shot 15-of-18 (.833) from the field, grabbed 25 rebounds, notched nine blocks and had six steals.

South Dakota continues its season with a 7:30 p.m. matchup against Cornell on Friday in the DakotaDome.
