Triple homicide Sunday in Yankton

Three young victims were found dead in a hallway after an apartment shooting in Yankton Sunday afternoon. Dispatchers were able to coax the suspected gunman Ernest Benjamin Tupper, 58, from the building, where he was arrested without incident.

Tupper is awaiting charges for three counts of first-degree murder in Yankton County Jail, according to a press release from the Yankton Police Department.

Police received report of "several shots fired" at about 2:20 p.m. from the Marne Creek Apartments at 610 W. 21st St. Tupper was in his apartment when police arrived on the scene.

The bodies of the three victims have been identified as Robert Riibe, 21; Brian Vanwagner, 29; and Chassidy Bamsey, 21.

No motive has been established at this time.
